Get a life?

I am not making this post to offend anyone, but firstly, this is because I read an article about how social networking sites may make us more reclusive than social. Here is a link to the article. It is true, the internet can be addicting; but can anyone completely stop using the internet? If that could be, I would not be typing this! Well, IIT Mumbai tried to help students “get a life” -

Just a few weeks ago, IIT Mumbai announced its decision to help its students `get a life’ by terminating internet connectivity for an hour between 11.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. Apparently, these juvenile netizens, like countless others all over the nation, were engaging in the greatest delinquency of them all — hitting self destruction by choosing to stay online over all other activities: attending classes, studying, pursuing other hobbies or means of recreation and forging new real-life relationships.

What does this show? True, the internet is addicting, true, it may cause lots of problems. Eye strain, back pain, and what not? Here is the Wikipedia article on Internet addiction. Whatever anyone says, computers and internet have become an integral part of our life, and no one, even me, is going to stop using the internet.

and, :ding: :ding:

Wikipedia has stated on the top of that article that : “This page contains material which is kept because it is considered humorous. It is not intended, nor should it be used, for any remotely serious purpose.”

How’s that?
