Firefox

“Oh no! Not again !”

Maybe this is what you are thinking when you saw the title of this post. You see people discussing Firefox everywhere (online atleast) - either people saying they love it and promoting it, or criticizing it and sticking up for Internet Explorer. If you did make the switch, you are one of the satisfied users of Firefox. Or, if you are still continuing on IE, you are probably going to close this window.

NO!!!

Just take a moment to think about why Firefox is now widely accepted and used and also gaining a large no. of satisfied users - more than 320 million.

Here are some of the reasons to switch to Firefox :-

  1. It’s safer - Firefox has less security holes than Internet Explorer. It does not use ActiveX, which is used in IE for special “features” in websites. Actually, the thing is that most malicious websites use ActiveX to install harmful software on your computer. Firefox, on the other hand, does not install sofware on your computer without your permission.
  2. It’s open source - Which means that the Firefox code is freely available to everyone who asks for it. This means that Firefox is continually made better by developers all around the world and not a closed group of developers.
  3. It’s updated frequently - In the case a bug is found in Firefox, it is fixed very fast and an updated version is immediately released. Whereas, think about the number of years you had to wait to get IE 7 released?
  4. It has extensions - To enrich your browsing experience. Come on, admit it - anything from weather information to great toolbars, the addons site has pretty much everything you want.
  5. It’s standards compliant - Check this out : Almost everywhere, Firefox scores better than IE.
  6. It’s faster - It’s faster than Internet Explorer in most respects, except starting up, but this is not Firefox’s fault. Note that when windows starts, most of the necessary files IE needs is loaded automatically - while in the case of Firefox, they have to be loaded in the first start.

I think I pretty much summed up everything. Of course, there are loads of other small reasons. If you are thinking about the pain to switch to a new browser, Firefox automates that for you too. It can load all your favorites and others from IE.

As I mentioned on the top, think how much appreciation it has got. Over 320 million people have downloaded it, and it has also got good reviews from most popular websites, like -

etc.

So, I guess you are satisfied and has decided to switch to Firefox. Haven’t I provided enough reasons already? :-)

  1. I am using firefox right now. I can say that it is a good web browser and much better than IE.

Firefox got a lot of extensions and themes available to customize your browser according to your preferences.

Why think more? Just switch to Firefox and experience it :)

  2. Agreed. And what more, Firefox is near 350 million downloads right now.

  3. Firefox is great, its a lot more safer, faster, and customizable (with extensions and all the addons). Another good option vs. IE is opera, but I still like firefox the best.
